Mission

At Zelestra, we are looking for a Health & Safety Specialist to join the Operations team in Peru, based in Arequipa. The mission of this role is to verify the implementation of the Occupational Health and Safety Management System at Zelestra's operating plants in the respective country, as well as compliance with relevant regulations by employees, visitors, contractors, and other stakeholders, in accordance with internal standards and current legislation. Additionally, the role is responsible for proposing preventive and corrective measures related to people’s health and safety and the implementation of the Management System. The ultimate goal is to foster a safety culture across Zelestra's facilities, promoting a safe and healthy work environment for all, in line with legal requirements, internal guidelines, and expected standards and indicators. 

Responsibilities

• Prepare and update the Health and Safety Management Plan (PGSS) and its associated programs in coordination with the Area Coordinator.
• Assess compliance with current legal regulations and internal Zelestra procedures related to occupational health and safety.
• Verify the implementation of the Occupational and Environmental Risk Prevention Plan, annually planning preventive activities at the assigned worksites in coordination with the team.
• Conduct regular inspections at the plants to identify deviations from the PGSS, ensuring procedures are applied and corrective measures are followed up.
• Coordinate regular meetings with Portfolio Coordinators and Plant Operators to review deviations in plan implementation and propose corrective actions.
• Monitor compliance with legal and regulatory provisions, as well as internal project regulations and work procedures.
• Draft and disseminate work procedures.
• Coordinate internally with corporate teams.
• Conduct visits and activities at renewable energy generation plants.
• Develop the Emergency Plan and organize drills.
• Coordinate and hold regular meetings with H&S and Environmental Technicians from contractor companies and perform document reviews to ensure legal compliance.
• Report all incidents and participate in and provide guidance during accident investigations, following up on corrective and closure measures.
• Implement actions to promote a culture of health and safety by facilitating access to information and sharing best practices among all plant workers.

Job Requirements

• University degree in Engineering (5-year program) or a related field, with a specialization in Occupational Safety and additional training in Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems.
• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in the field of Occupational Health and Safety.
• At least 4 years of experience in renewable energy projects.
• Experience in high-voltage electrical substations (above 100 kV).
• Knowledge of safety regulations applicable in the Peruvian sector (mandatory).
• Certification in high-risk work (required).
• Certification or training in Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems under ISO 45001 (required).
• Valid driver’s license.
• Residence in Arequipa.
• Availability to travel within the country.
