In your role as Head of BESS Germany, you play a key and entrepreneurial role for Zelestra in Germany. You are responsible for building up a pipeline of several hundred MWp, bringing them to financial close and NTP, and take them through construction up to Operation & Asset Management. On top of that, you actively shape the company´s strategy in Germany. You will be reporting to the CEO Germany and work in a growing team of professionals as part of a close-knit team that supports each other and collaborates to achieve their goals. 

Responsibilities

• Define and implement a strategy to develop, build and commercialize battery energy storage projects on a stand-alone or hybrid basis in line with the company’s overall renewable energy strategy.

• Together with the Energy Markets / Commercial Team develop a BESS business model and commercial strategy.

• Work closely with the Business Development and M&A teams to source and acquire stand-alone BESS-projects and enter co-development partnerships.

• Collaborate with the Investment and Commercial teams as also other functions to conduct financial modelling for BESS projects, and prepare a sound investment thesis to ensure compliance with national and EU regulations and continuously review and adapt the strategy in line with regulatory changes. 

• Build lasting partnerships with multiple stakeholders such as developers, grid operators and industry representatives.

• Together with the CFO team, defining the best strategy and finding the best partner to finance the projects. 

• Together with the COO team, bringing the project to NTP with an optimized design and a deliable and cost-efficient supply chain in place. Ensuring smooth execution and handover to O&M and Asset Management. 

Job Requirements

• Degree in Business Administration, Engineering or related field. 

• 10+ years of experience in German power markets or renewable energy investments.  

• Strategic mindset with the ability to navigate the dynamic German energy landscape.

• Deep knowledge of the German energy and power markets with a strong understanding of grid services, trading mechanisms and market regulations affecting BESS.

• Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills.

• Excellent business acumen with robust experience in project and transaction structuring, financial modelling and revenue optimization. 

• Proficient in German and English. 

• Strong willingness to teamwork and collaborate.

• Strong customer orientation and capability to win others over. 

• Passion to lead the World towards a clean energy future.
