On Site Community Relations Specialist - Aurora Project (Chile)

Mission
At Zelestra, we are looking for a Field-based Community Relations Specialist to join the Security, Environmental & Social (SES) team of our LATAM Business Unit, based at a major photovoltaic project located in Pozo Almonte, Tarapacá Region. The main mission of this role is to lead the social/community management throughout the development, construction, and operation phases of the project, maintaining fluent communication with the various construction teams and reporting directly to the LATAM Social Coordination team.
This will be achieved through the creation of community ties and the development of collaborative networks among key stakeholders: local communities, authorities, Zelestra, and partner companies. All work will align with Zelestra’s corporate guidelines, applicable local regulations, the IFC Performance Standards, the Equator Principles, the Escazú Agreement, and the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights.
Responsibilities
- Develop and coordinate actions and/or programs of the Social Management Plan and the strategic lines of Community Engagement within the project's area of influence.
- Implement and monitor the social initiatives defined by Zelestra.
- Carry out activities and updates such as field diagnostics, stakeholder mapping, information/awareness events, strategic planning, implementation, and monitoring of social projects.
- Manage populations within the project’s area of influence, and develop workshops and community meetings with leaders, representatives, and/or local communities.
- Participate in stakeholder engagement processes to ensure compliance with the Community Engagement Plan and social management of the project.
- Prepare various reports, documents, and compliance reports for both authorities and Zelestra.
- Monitor and issue conflict alerts, as well as engage in mediation and crisis management.
- Implement social tools and instruments to prevent and/or manage potential conflicts.
- Contribute to the project’s risk registry, mitigation plans, and lessons learned documentation.
- Support the formulation of social investment project proposals from the communities in the area of influence.
- Manage social investment projects within the communities, including community-driven initiatives and projects, leveraging public and internal resources.
- Assist in the development and implementation of work plans for both ethnic and non-ethnic social teams, as required across different project phases, and follow up on their progress.
- Collect and systematize social verification tools and indicators.
Job Requirements
- Professional or technical degree in Social Sciences (Sociology, Communications, Psychology, or related fields).
- At least 6 years of professional experience in community engagement roles within the energy, mining, or oil & gas sectors.
- Demonstrated experience working with communities in the field, particularly in northern Chile.
- Class B driver’s license.
- Availability to work on-site in Pozo Almonte, Tarapacá Region.
