Mission

At Zelestra, we are looking for a Business Development Manager whose mission will be to lead and coordinate the team of Development Project Managers, in order to implement all actions required from a development perspective, contributing to the financial and operational feasibility of the renewable energy projects within their portfolio, in line with the area’s local strategy and the overall business unit objectives.
All of this aims to contribute to the efficient development of the renewable energy project pipeline, supporting the achievement of the company’s strategic goals in accordance with business priorities, internal guidelines, applicable regulations, and the required standards in quality, environment, safety, and compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Country Directors, as the person responsible for development in the country, in managing and growing the development pipeline in alignment with corporate growth targets.

  • Define the development strategy for the team, provide guidance in identifying and quantifying risks, and serve as the main point of contact for internal stakeholders at Zelestra.

  • Coordinate the development of projects assigned to the country’s Project Managers, driving them to achieve Ready to Build status on time, on budget, and in accordance with Zelestra’s quality standards.

  • Oversee the activities of Project Managers in developing greenfield projects and lead due diligence processes for project acquisitions, in coordination with the Head of Strategic Business Development and supervision of signed co-development agreements.

  • Structure development priorities at the country level, defining the criticality and importance of actions related to the national project portfolio, in alignment with the local development strategy and business unit vision.

  • Maintain timely relations with public and private authorities, agencies, and other entities for securing the permits required for the projects.

  • Coordinate development activities up to the start of construction, including, among others, analyzing the technical and financial feasibility of projects to maximize financial and commercial outcomes, supporting Project Managers in reviewing inputs from other areas, while being ultimately responsible for them.

  • Monitor compliance with key milestones and deadlines for actions led by the Project Managers, according to the project development schedule.

  • Ensure proper use of development team tracking and management systems (e.g., Ptrack).

  • Lead the Project Managers' work in accordance with established internal parameters and in coordination with other company departments.

  • Maintain ongoing and fluent communication with internal and external stakeholders required for project development, such as suppliers and others.

  • Carry out supervisory and talent management responsibilities related to the role, ensuring team well-being and performance in line with established goals and guidelines.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (any field), Economics, Architecture, or related disciplines.

  • At least 15 years of professional experience in the power sector.

  • Over 10 years of experience in renewable energy companies, leading solar and/or other technology projects.

  • Proven experience in utility-scale project development (mandatory).

  • Experience in Project Finance.

  • Experience managing the full lifecycle of utility-scale renewable energy projects.

  • High level of English.

  • Knowledge of:

    • Environmental Impact Assessment System

    • Project evaluation (discounted cash flow)

    • Project management (PMI or similar)

    • Electricity market

    • Open Access process of the National Electrical Coordinator

    • Cost estimation
