Role Overview
Develop and maintain dynamic fundamental market and adjacent quantitative/qualitative analysis platform. This key position will be central to Zelestra’s price, supply, demand and other fundamental forecasting capabilities driving decision making of Zelestra’s commercial activities in our core markets (ERCOT, MISO, SPP and PJM).
Role Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master’s or Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Economics, Statistics, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in power and gas analysis, with a focus on renewable energy
- Direct experience with one or more of our key ISOs (ERCOT, MISO, SPP, PJM), including market structures, regulation, data and interface.
- Familiarity with power and natural gas price forecasting methods and vendors, energy risk management platforms and market data systems.
- Understanding of renewable energy technologies, grid integration, energy storage, and the economics of renewable energy markets.
- Strong ability to tackle complex problems using quantitative methods, energy market and a data-driven approach.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proficiency in programming and database languages would be an asset.
- Advanced skills in statistical analysis and machine learning techniques.
Role Responsibility
- Generate and update timely view of price, supply, demand and other drivers influencing Zelestra’s portfolio and M&A activities.
- Lead the production and presentation of commercial market reports
- Analyze energy market trends, energy prices, weather patterns, and other external factors that may influence renewable energy production and market behavior.
- Create predictive models for energy price forecasting and demand-supply analysis.
- Support the optimization of energy generation and storage strategies for wind, solar, or other renewable assets. Apply quantitative techniques to improve efficiency and reduce costs while meeting demand.
- Perform congestion analysis and its impact to individual projects, transactions and overall Zelestra’s portfolio.
- Collect and clean large datasets (e.g., weather data, energy production data) to extract actionable insights.
- Work with energy traders, asset managers, and other Zelestra colleagues to develop strategies for buying/selling renewable energy, certificates, carbon credits, or power purchase agreements (PPAs). Assist in managing the risks of trading renewable energy assets.
- Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and senior leadership to provide insights and recommendations.
- Create reports and presentations to communicate findings to stakeholders.
