Mission

At Zelestra, we are looking for a Community Relations Specialist for Fieldwork to join the Security, Environmental & Social (SES) team for LATAM, based on a significant project located in Pozo Almonte, Tarapacá Region. Your main mission will be to develop technical support related to social/community management for the development, construction, and operation of the Project, which is about to enter its Construction phase. This will involve maintaining smooth communication with the EPC team and reporting directly to the Social-Community Coordination at the LATAM level. All of this will be achieved through creating community links and collaborative network articulations among various stakeholders: community, authorities, Zelestra, and partner companies, in accordance with Zelestra's corporate guidelines, current local regulations, IFC Performance Standards, the Equator Principles, the Escazú Agreement, and the Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights.

Responsibilities

 

  • Advance the actions and/or programs of the Social Management Plan and strategic lines of Community Relations with the areas of influence of the Tamarugal project.
  • Implement and monitor the social actions established in the environmental license and its environmental management plan documents for the Tamarugal Project.
  • Conduct activities and updates: field diagnosis, stakeholder mapping, information/sensitization events, strategy design, and implementation and monitoring of social projects.
  • Manage population groups in the project’s area of influence, develop workshops and socializations with community leaders, representatives, and/or communities.
  • Participate in stakeholder engagement processes for compliance with the community relations plan and social management of the project.
  • Prepare various reports, documents, and socio-environmental compliance reports with authorities and Zelestra.
  • Monitor and generate conflict alerts, mediation, treatment, and crisis management.
  • Implement social instruments and tools for the prevention and/or management of conflict situations.
  • Contribute to the project risk register and mitigation plans, and to the recording of lessons learned.
  • Support the formulation of social investment project proposals from the communities in the project's area of influence, from the social component.
  • Manage social investment projects within the communities, donations, initiatives, and socio-community projects, leveraging public and private resources.
  • Support the development and implementation of work plans for both ethnic and non-ethnic social teams required at various project stages, as well as their monitoring.
  • Assist in citizen participation processes necessary for the development and execution of the project.

 

Requirements

 

  • Professional degree in social sciences (Sociology, Communication, Psychology, or similar), expert in community issues or a related field.
  • At least 6 years of experience in similar roles in the energy, mining, and/or hydrocarbons sector.
  • Demonstrable experience working with communities in the field, in northern Chile regions.
  • Intermediate English.
  • Class B driving license.
  • Availability to work on-site in Pozo Almonte, Tarapacá Region.
